Trail:The game

Trail

Trail is a free platform game of a unique kind. It explores the concept that you leave a trail in the world as you journey through life. When you eventually die, you are required to collect this trail to achieve moksha or final piece. It therefore consists of two states: a living world and a dead world. While in the living world, you continue to drop and leave behind memories as you progress. When you die and enter the dead world, your goal is to reach the first memory you left in the world. Your health constantly falls while in the dead world, so you have to achieve your goal within a stipulated time.

In essence, you first play forward and then trace your steps backward from the point of your death. The living world is white, while the dead world is black. In the living world, your score increases you drop memories and decreases when you touch it (symbolising that it is sometimes painful to revisit the past). Once you die, the world turns black and you start from the point of your death with your health reset, though it keeps deteriorating. You can still be hurt and health decrease by the things that hurt you when you were alive, while it increases when you collect memories. However, memories keep moving away from you, making it increasingly difficult to achieve your goal of collecting your first memory.

You win the game when you collect the first memory and achieve moksha, while your life remains incomplete and unfulfilled if you fail. Based on the score you achieve and your age, the game displays a short piece of text that sums your life.

New Modern Warfare 3 trailer is sublime

Excited about Modern Warfare 3? Us too and not making the wait for November any easier is this new trailer released by Activision today. Like all previous Modern Warfare trailers, this one is full of explosions, combat, some more explosions, even more combat and so on. You get the drift right?

The war between EA and Activision is about to reach a feverish pitch as both companies prep their biggest games for release soon. EA will be going first as Battlefield 3 is strapped for a 25th October release date while Activision will follow a few weeks later by the 8th of November 2011. So what do you think? Will Activision retain the crown for the umpteenth time or will EA provide them with some stiff competition?

Angry Birds is Bigger Than Mario !!

Angry Birds has become a bonafide phenomenon. In just two short years, Rovio's bird-flinging franchise has taken over the world. In terms of units sold, it has even surpassed the mustachioed video game mascot Mario. Nintendo reported earlier this year that games in the core Super Mario series have sold 262 million copies worldwide.

Of course Mario was born into an age of $60 games, while Angry Birds is the poster-child for cheap mobile gaming. Even so, the stats show that in the 21st Century, Rovio got it right...

5 Interesting Facts About Super Mario Bros !!

Everybody knows the classic Super Mario Bros. Everybody, your parents, little sister, and even your grandparents should be able to recognize the game by its iconic title.
Although you may have beaten the game over and over again since its release in 1986, there are, amazingly, some things that you may still not have noticed about this classic.

1) The graphics for the bushes and clouds are the same, with different colors.

2) Mario was named after the landlord of Nintendo of America's office.

3) Contrary to popular belief, Mario hits blocks with his fist, not his head.

4) Mario wears a hat because Miyamoto can't draw hair.

Shigeru Miyamoto designed Mario wearing a hat because he found drawing hair difficult. He also drew Mario with a mustache because a mustache was easier to see than a mouth with 8-bit graphics.

5) Mario series is the best selling videogame series of all time.

As of May 2011, the series has sold over 262 million units worldwide.

British Dad Chokes Boy Who 'Killed' Him in Online War Game !!

A British man attacked a teenage boy who "killed" his character in an online computer war game, a court in southern England has heard.

Father-of-three Mark Bradford, 46, was awaiting sentencing Friday after he admitted storming round to the boy's home and grabbing him around the throat after the youngster teased him about winning "Call of Duty: Black Ops," the Plymouth Herald reported.

The boy, who has not been named, was playing the popular shooter game on his Sony PlayStation console on July 1 this year when he began competing with Bradford through the game's online multiplayer mode and using microphones to communicate, Plymouth Magistrates' Court was told.

Prosecutor Gareth Warden said, "Mr. Bradford was killed during the game and the boy called him a name."

Bradford then left his own apartment and went to the boy's address where he carried out the attack, which left a scratch and a reddening of the neck.

Bradford's lawyer, Tracey Baker, said he had mental health issues and "just lost it" after being provoked by the boy's name-calling.

He will be sentenced next month.

Max Payne 3 releasing March 2012

T
he cat’s finally out of the bag; well it’s almost out of the bag. Rockstar today announced a March 2012 release for Max Payne 3 but haven’t locked down on a date yet. Still after the years of silence, that’s good enough for us. Apparently Max Payne has now moved to Brazil to work for a rich industrialist working private security. Of course the brown stuff hits the fan pretty fast and when the industrialist’s family comes under threat from a local gang, Max undoubtedly brings the Payne (had to).
Max brings the Payne
Max brings the Payne

New to the game is the inclusion of multiplayer, something I’m sure this series could have done without. According to Rockstar's site, “Max Payne 3 multiplayer delivers a compelling experience that dynamically alters maps and mode progression for all players in a match. Along with traditional multiplayer modes, Max Payne 3 will also include a deep reward and leveling system, persistent clans and multiple strategic load-out options.”

Play Angry Birds in Real Life!

A Chinese theme park located in Changsha, Huna China clearly skipped Trademark Infringement 101 and built a very real, very authentic-looking Angry Birds game. Players pull back a gigantic slingshot loaded with plush Angry Birds and let them fly at balloon pigs sheltered in toy bricks. Chances are you need to make your own bird-flinging scream, though.

Angry Birds is a huge hit in China. The game was even part of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival although just in mooncake form. The explosive growth thanks in large part by Rovio’s acceptance of nearly every hardware platform has turned Angry Birds into a culture phenomenon abroad.

So do anyone of you want a pay a visit to this Chinese theme park in Hunan and have some fun with this Giant-size Angry birds game booth ?

L.A. Noire (PS3)

Welcome to the dark side of L.A.

Amazing facial expressions; Impressive narration; Detailed city environment; Solid voice acting

Boring side quests; Repetitive cases; Loose driving mechanics

L.A. Noire (PS3)
Developer: Team Bondi
Publisher: Rockstar Games
Genre: Action
MRP: Rs 2499

My earliest gaming memory involves cruising around Liberty City while running over prostitutes, killing innocent civilians, and using vehicles as battering rams just to see shit explode. That's Rockstar Games for you. However, if you expect the same from L.A. Noire, you're in for a disappointment. Instead of running around raising hell, you are the law itself. Rockstar fans needn't worry, as the game still features plenty of car chases, gunfights, and a trademark Rockstar open world goodness. Team Bondi has created a sophisticated crime drama, with the right mix of technology and compelling narrative.

Review: L.A. Noire (PS3)

Shouldn't have eaten that vada pav.

Introduction And Plot
The game is set 1947 Los Angeles, long before it was taken over by mafia-backed Hollywood studios. A time where crime and corruption were widespread and wearing a fedora hat didn't necessarily label you a douchebag. Our main man is a certain Cole Phelps, an incorruptible, Silver Star decorated world war veteran fresh off the academy. Solving cases helps Cole evolve from a patrol officer to a detective, while unravelling the dark, criminal underbelly of L.A.

It's incredible how well the game delivers a complex narrative without resorting to long cutscenes. The plot plays out like a television series divided into cases, with each case an individual story helping you connect the dots to the final puzzle. The immersive plot is backed by excellent voice acting. The game puts you through five departments - Patrol, Traffic, Homicide, Ad Vice, and Arson. Each desk exposes you to different kinds of cases. The traffic desk involves relatively mundane hit-and-run incidents, while homicide deals with investigation of brutal murders. It's a pity that homicide cases are downright monotonous though. You end up doing the same thing all over again, case after case. Fortunately, things get better when you get back to the Administrative Vice desk, which brings you the world of drug trafficking and bookies.

Review: L.A. Noire (PS3)

The cars resemble vintage '40s models. I just wish they didn't handle like them.

Gameplay And Graphics
The driving mechanics haven't changed much from the GTA series. The cars are slippery and the steering is too sensitive. Brace yourself for insults from your partner for loose driving, especially during high-speed car chases when you just can't help running over a pedestrian or two. Speaking of slippery cars, damage modelling is quite satisfying. The cars bear the brunt of your incompetence with the wheel, which is well reflected with dented bodywork and broken headlights.

There is a way out though. You can save yourself of the handling agony by making your partner drive to the destination, but doing so skips the commute altogether. This entails missing street crimes and collectibles altogether, which is a major downer for trophy whores.

Combat in L.A. Noire uses a basic cover system and implements snap-on aiming mated to awkward buttons. It's tolerable at best, and gets the job done for the occasional combat sequences. Guilty or not, almost all suspects make a run for it when they see cops approaching. This where the dozen or so foot chases come in. These could have been fun if they weren't so linear and repetitive.

Review: L.A. Noire (PS3)

Hanky - check, chloroform - check...

However, none of these drawbacks matter, because the game has an ace up its sleeve. When it comes to the actual sleuthing, the game turns in to an old-school point-and-click adventure. The cases range from petty crimes to mass murders - many of them linked to real-life events from that era. The main plot is slowly established through a series of episodic flashbacks from Phelps' war days, and through stories published in newspapers you collect over time. You can also free roam through the city solving street crimes (side quests), which are called over the dispatch. They get boring after the first few times though.

Play Angry Birds on Facebook Very Soon!

Angry Birds, the hugely popular mobile game, is to launch a special Facebook version “within the next three months”, according to Peter Vesterbacka, the game maker’s chief marketing officer.
Talking to The Telegraph, Vesterbacka, whose official job title is actually ‘Mighty Eagle’ said: “We are coming out with our social game over the next few months. We are in talks with Facebook and Angry Birds will be live on the site within the next three months.”

Three weeks ago, Rovio, the Finnish parent company of Angry Birds, launched its first web version of the game in partnership with Google Chrome.

However, one of its next major focuses, is getting the game, which has been downloaded on mobiles more than 200 million times to date, onto all of the major social networks around the world.

Vesterbacka confirmed that like Farmville, one of the most popular games on Facebook, Angry Birds would be free to download on the site but users could pay for “extras” – the revenue from which would be split between the two companies.

He declined to give any more detail about how the financial side will work between Rovio and Facebook, or on how the game will be adapted differently for the social networking platform.

Vesterbacka did admit Rovio was talking to Facebook about the launch so they could “do some special things on the site which would make the experience better for fans”, but refused to divulge any more detail.

He described the web as the most important platform for the game to be across moving forward and that players could expect new game play before the end of the year – which would change the ‘swipe and drop’ function that the game has centred around until now.
