Here’s the official Symbian Belle demo video from Nokia Conversations

To conclude, I want to reflect on one thing. When our CEO Stephen Elop announced our new company strategy just six months ago, he highlighted one major goal for our company – to get back to doing what Nokia does best – making great mobile products.
I hope you will agree that with these announcements today, that is exactly what Nokia is doing.

Nokia 801 – Possible 16mp Belle or make believe?

Get that bag of salt and throw it over your shoulder.
The same person who claimed to have info on upcoming Nokia Windows Phones – Nokia 900 – has said their source has divulged some more information. Ignore the actual MS paint design job there. That is probably just to give an idea of what it looks like.
This time it’s a Symbian handset. With the new Symbian Belle it has:
  • A very realistic, but extremely disappointing resolution, 640×360 nHD screen.
  • Most likely an excellent CBD AMOLED screen – 3.8″
  • Possibly improving on the Nokia N8 – is this the supercam Ninja was talking about? 16MP AF Carl Zeis with Xenon flash AND Dual LED lights
  • 1.2GHz Dual core (mentioned to be coming since last December along with True Zoom)
  • HDMI, USB OTG
  • GPS, AGPS
  • NFC
  • 2 Speakers
  • Menu key
  • 16GB internal with microSD slot
  • 1550mAh sealed battery.
  • 480EUR before taxes and subsidies
  • Availability Q1 2012.
This is supposedly going to be announced in Nokia World 2011, along with some amazing QT powered S40 handsets . The Nokia 900 is said to be launched at an event in February.  The main event in February is MWC, which Nokia’s Mark Squires said they’d be going in a big way.

The ZIP of Death

This is a exploit of the compression algorithms to make a small zip that will extract into extream amounts their are more ways and better ones than this one but i will only show how to make a simple 1k = 1m ratio.

1) Make a.txt file

2) Open and type the null character (alt + 255)

3) Press ctrl + a then ctrl + v a couple times to make some null bytes

4) If u have a hexeditor make the hex 00 for about 50 kilobytes.

5) Now make several copies of a.txt and name accordinly

6) Open cmd.exe

7) Type copy /b *.txt b.txt

8) Now every copy is made into a super copy and repeat

9) Once you have a nice empty big text file like 1gb. Put it in a zip archive.
Because of the simple construction of the file, 1gb of null bytes.....!

The zip is only 1 mb in size and can really annoy freinds.
For added fun hex edit the zip and you will see a bunch of hex 5555

Just add some more and the file will expand amazingly

Make sure to not open this after

You can always create your zip of death from the command line in linux
dd if=/dev/zero bs=1000 count=1000000 | gzip > test.gz

iOS is Still Vulnerable

Apple's recent security patch for iOS is a lot more critical for users of iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices to install than was initially suspected, according to Chester Wisniewski, a Sophos senior security advisor.
Apple's mobile operating system is vulnerable to an updated version of a tool called sslsniff, that "allows users to easily perform man-in-the-middle attacks against SSL/TLS connections," Wisniewski wrote Wednesday on Sophos' NakedSecurity blog.

What's more the new version of sslsniff can apparently "identify vulnerable Apple devices and allows anyone to snoop on secure communications."
"This patch should be applied immediately if you log in to any service on your device, especially things like your bank or PayPal," Wisniewski writes. "Users are particularly vulnerable to this attack if they frequently use public/open WiFi."
The vulnerability is present in iOS versions 4.3.4, 4.2.9, 5.0b, and earlier. Unfortunately for users of Apple devices even just a couple of generations old, there is no fix, according to Wisniewski.
"If you are using an iPod Touch generation one or two, or an iPhone older than the 3GS, you will be perpetually vulnerable," he writes. "Owners of these devices should not use them for any purpose for which security or privacy is required."
And like a number of recently identified security vulnerabilities in Apple's Mac OS X operating system, the latest iOS vulnerability has a documented history—as a flaw originally seen in Microsoft software.
"Oddly the flaw in iOS was a widespread flaw in WebKit and Microsoft's CryptoAPI nine years ago," Wisniewski writes. "It allows any valid certificate purchased from a Certificate Authority to sign any other certificate, which the client device will then consider valid.
"This allows anyone who can capture traffic from your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with man-in-the-middle techniques to intercept and read any and all encrypted SSL traffic silently and without notification to the user."
Security researchers at Recurity Labs have created a website, https://issl.recurity.com, which iOS users can surf to with their devices to see if they are vulnerable. Tests by Betanews on a variety of iOS devices not using the most current version of iOS verified that the site is a reliable method for testing.

Facebook Photos Gets Polish: White Background, Bigger Images That Load Faster

Facebook has rolled out a new version of its popular Photos app, complete with speed improvements and larger images.

“Now, the photos you share on Facebook are bigger (720 pixels to 960 pixels) and load twice as fast, giving you quicker access to more detailed images,” Facebook’s Justin Shaffer said in a blog post. “Photos you’ve already uploaded to your profile will also be displayed at this higher resolution.”

In addition to the increased photo size, Facebook is rolling out a revamped photo viewer. The new viewer takes up more screen real estate (since photos are now larger) and reduces clutter so users can focus on the photo and nothing else.

“The light box is now set against a simple white background that puts more of the focus on the photo, and less on the surrounding frame,” Shaffer noted.

Facebook rolled out its revamped Photos interface in February with the lightbox UI and support for hi-res photos.

Check out the new Photos interface and let us know if you like the improvements in the comments.

Steve Jobs Resigns as Apple's CEO

A historical chapter ends. The Big Boss of Apple Sir & Mr. Steve Jobs resigns as the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Apple. This iconic figure has struggled with various medical conditions through his tenure in Cupertino, battling pancreatic cancer in 2004 and undergoing a liver transplant in April 2009. Jobs has been on medical leave since January 2011, a year plus after returning from the transplant, so his resignation isn't entirely unforeseen.

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:-

"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
"

Microsoft Said : Windows 8 Will be As Revolutionary As Windows 95

Microsoft Corp's Windows 95 truly reinvented the PC experience and revolutionized the PC industry back sixteen years ago in 1995. This week Microsoft opened up Windows 8 development blog and said that its next-generation Windows 8, which will be available for public testing in the coming months, will be as revolutionary as the legendary Windows 95.

"So much has changed since Windows 95 - the last time Windows was significantly overhauled - when the 'desktop' metaphor was established. Today more than two out of three PCs are mobile (laptops, netbooks, notebooks, tablets, slates, convertibles, etc.). Nearly every PC is capable of wireless connectivity. Screen sizes range from under 10" to wall-sized screens and multiple HD screens. Storage has jumped from megabytes to terabytes and has moved up to the cloud," said Steven Sinofsky, the president of Windows and Windows Live division at Microsoft.

Although Microsoft continues to remain mum about the release date of Windows 8, many believe that the next-generation Windows will be launched in 2012. In its new blog, the world's largest designer of software plans to share how it focuses on performance, reliability, compatibility, security, and quality of Windows 8 and plans to continue the dialog around performance and fundamental engineering of Windows with its customers and end-users.
Microsoft previewed its Windows 8 in June and started by showing user experience and interface on a range of mobile devices. The graphics user interface (GUI) is one of the most important elements of operating systems as end-users interact with it every day. But Microsoft stresses that the new GUI along with compatibility with ARM-based system-on-chips are not the only innovations when it comes to Windows 8. The software giant claims it has engineered changes across the full range of Windows capabilities.

"We know people who care a lot about networking want to know our plans there. We know people who are invested heavily in storage want to know what is new in that area. Many want to know about performance and fundamentals. We know developers, IT pros, and gamers all want to know what's new for them. There is so much packed into Windows 8 and there are so many unique and important lenses through which to view Windows 8, and so we want to be sure to take the time to cover as many of these topics as possible, to build up a shared understanding of why we’ve taken Windows where we have. So in the next weeks we will just start talking specifics of features, since there is no obvious place to start given the varying perspectives. From fundamentals, to user interface, to hardware support, and more, if something is important to you, we promise we'll get to it in some form or another," said Mr. Sinofsky.

Happy Birthday Windows XP (Microsoft is Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of XP)

Many Many happy returns of the day, wish you a very very happy birthday dear  Windows XP. Microsoft shipped the first copies of Windows XP to PC manufacturers 10 years ago today. Short for “eXPerience”, the successor to Windows 2000 and Windows Me eventually became the most popular operating system of all time. Windows XP is the first consumer-oriented OS built on the Windows NT kernel. The OS had a long run despite a rocky launch and has sustained two subsequent releases, the dreaded Windows Vista and the much-improved Windows 7.
Just one month before the official retail release of XP, a group by the name of devils0wn released a volume license key used to bypass product activation. This allowed potentially millions of users to install the operating system without paying for it. Furthermore, the events of September 11, 2001 put a damper on Microsoft’s retail launch plans and the company decided to scale back worldwide launch parties accordingly.
OEM and retail sales of XP ceased in June 2008, although Microsoft continued to offer the OS to system builders through early 2009. Support will be offered for systems running Service Pack 3 through April 8, 2014. As of last month, Windows XP finally fell below the 50 percent mark among all Windows Internet users. The slow decline is partially due to the success of Windows 7, which now accounts for nearly 30 percent of the market.
Microsoft has been urging customers to upgrade from XP since Vista arrived in 2006 and again when 7 debuted in 2009. According to free antivirus software provider Avast, XP is home to 74 percent of their customers' rookit infections.
